Like sixth graders, seventh graders also have music as part of a four-class rotation along with Computers, Technology, and Art. So, every 7th grade student will have music for one marking period. Check the parent portal for when your music class will occur throughout the year.
In seventh grade, students focus on learning elements of music theory, like reading notes and rhythms on a staff and reading guitar chords and tablature. Students then use this knowledge to play actual songs on keyboard and guitar. Students also work on creating their own musical storyboard, similar to what is created for a movie soundtrack. Again, this class is very interactive and hands-on.
