Sixth graders have music as part of a four-class rotation along with Computers, Technology, and Art. So, every 6th grade student will have music for one marking period. Check the parent portal for when your music class will occur throughout the year.
Students in sixth grade music class will learn about the guys you see here. Don't worry, they are much more fun than they look (except Beethoven, he was pretty angry!!) and they have some obviously awesome names. Definitely think of naming your next family pet Wolfgang!
In other words, sixth graders will learn about composers in music history from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic time periods but in a fun and interactive way. For example, when students learn about Pachelbel, they will play his famous "Canon in D" on boomwhackers pitched percussion instruments. When they learn about Bach, they will prepare a play or other interactive presentation, for Haydn, they will play the keyboard.
